Facebook Timeline
Today at Facebook’s f8 conference in San Francisco, CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage to unveil the next evolution of the service. The first major change? The Profile.
Question about Facebook Timeline: Are people really this solipsistic? Who has the time to do this sort of thing? Curate their entire life? Am I just getting old? Mark, I really do only want to see what people posted about today. What value for anyone is there to a 2 year old status update? What do others think?

If it’s anything like the old timeline, it will pre-fill with data users enter anyway, like the years they were at certain jobs, wedding dates, etc. I suspect that *will* nudge a lot of people towards „filling in the blanks.”

Wow, know who just got blindsided by the competition again? Gowalla!
Think about it: Facebook’s „story of your life” emphasis just totally bigfooted Gowalla’s „tell your stories” idea. And Gowalla’s implementation is going to be totally second-rate, because it’s stuck in the present tense, and won’t include any of your non-Gowalla friends!
Man, it must suck to be Gowalla. Every time they think they’ve thought of something cool, it turns out somebody else was simultaneously thinking up a better implementation.

Do we live in the Facebook World now? Are we so dependent on Facebook? Will Facebook be our Identity? With the rapid advancement Facebook is making into our lives, it’s indeed becoming one of the most important part of our lives and we are way too connected and dependent on it. Facebook is like controlling us now. Don’t you think this is first step of us surrendering ourselves to Facebook completely? And soon Facebook will be driving us. Fingers Crossed because there is still a lot more to come!

Definitely interesting, although given Facebook’s past history of transgressions regarding stewarding of user data, it breeds instant discomfort. Also when is Zuckerberg going to ditch the ratty t-shirt? Seriously the only billionaire I know who wears a hoody.
